Privacy policy

What we collect

• Newsletter signup: your email address, plus anything you choose to add, such as your city or answers to a short reader survey.
• Forms you send us: event and venue submissions, contact messages, directory and partner applications, and Gift Guide or other ad applications. These can include your name, email, business name, website, town, and what you write.
• Paid placements: if you buy a listing or sponsorship, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details. We never see or store your full card number.
• Usage data: standard information like pages viewed, referring site, device and browser type, and approximate location from your IP address. Our hosting and analytics tools collect this.
• Email engagement: our email platform records whether you open an issue and which links you click.

How we use it

• To send the newsletter and messages you asked for
• To review, publish, and fix event, venue, and directory listings
• To run and report on paid placements (for example, telling a Gift Guide advertiser how many readers clicked through to their shop, as a total count and never a list of who clicked)
• To answer your messages
• To keep our forms free of spam and abuse
• To understand which content readers find useful and make NWA Today better

We do not sell your personal information. We do not give subscriber lists to advertisers.

Services we use

We share data only with vendors that help us run NWA Today:

• Beehiiv: newsletter delivery, subscriber management, and surveys
• Vercel: website hosting and server logs
• Stripe: payments for paid placements
• Cloudflare Turnstile: checks that form submissions come from people, not bots
• Google Places: used to confirm venue names, addresses, and hours. This is our own lookup, and your data isn’t sent to Google for it.
• Google Analytics: aggregate site traffic measurement

Each vendor handles data under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar tools for analytics, spam protection, and keeping you signed in where that applies. Your browser settings let you block or delete cookies. Some features may not work without them.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
• Access, correct, or delete your information by writing to hello@thenwatoday.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.
• Submitted listings: ask us to correct or remove a listing you submitted.

How long we keep it

We keep subscriber data while you’re subscribed and for a reasonable time afterward for records and to honor unsubscribes. We keep business and payment records as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Children

NWA Today is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above. If a change is significant, we’ll note it in the newsletter.
